What is a Naturopathic Doctor?

Naturopathic Doctors are trained in basic medical sciences, and naturopathic modalities in a 4 year graduate program. In addition to anatomy, microbiology, and immunology, Naturopathic students learn about acupuncture, botanical medicine, nutrition, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, massage, physical medicine, and lifestyle guidance. In your initial one hour visit, Dr. Eric will go over you personal health history and pressing concerns. Dr. Viegas will perform any relevant physical exams, requisition lab work, and prescribe an individualized treatment plan using a variety of services.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, recent lab tests, and a list of medications & supplements. You may wish to bring shorts and t-shirt if you have scheduled an acupuncture follow-up visit.

How many visits will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, Dr. Viegas will discuss available treatment options and--if appropriate--give you an approximate timeline for recovery. The first visit is one hour long, and follow-up visits range from 30 minutes to an hour depending on which services are required in your session.

What should I wear to my appointment?

If we are treating using acupuncture or cupping, it is recommended that patients wear shorts. In the first visit, a physical exam may be warranted, and gowns are available for patients to wear during the assessment.

How do I make an appointment?

You can get in touch by phone (613) 230-0998. Alternatively use the quick and easy online booking page, which is the method we prefer. If you are curious about what services the clinic offers, you can book a free personal health coach visit with one of our clinic directors.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, Naturopathic doctors can assess and treat without referral by a medical doctor. Some personal insurance plans also cover visits with a Naturopathic doctor.
